There is a simple activity that you can do daily, weekly, or monthly to boost your motivation. The simple activity is reflection.
Reflection is important because it connects us to our feelings and to our minds. If we manage our mindset and our feelings effectively, they can be two of the most powerful resources we have.
If you want to grow, you need to get out of your comfort zone.
In my journal, I can see moments that were clearly filled with discomfort, fear, and sometimes even pain.
Reflection helps me take those moments of discomfort and see the bigger picture. It allows me to focus on what is in front of me and what actions I can take to move my goals forward.
It sounds simple to spend a few minutes every week to reflect and you will achieve better results. So why don’t we?
Most people say they are too busy working on tasks, projects, and events. Other things people say are: I don’t think about it, it isn’t important, I don’t value it and I don’t know how to do it.
In history, people would make time to sit down in the evening and revisit their day. What they were doing is reflecting. Reflecting gives you the headspace to move forward.
Reflecting helps you understand yourself, increases productivity, reduces stress, provides a sense of purpose and achievement, and helps you be focused in hard times.
Grab your Ollin Women Peace Journal and determine the date you are going to start writing down your reflections.
Decide how often you will reflect. You want to make this a habit and like with any goal, set yourself up to win by selecting a timeline that will allow you to be consistent.
Some questions you might ask are:
- What have been my top highlights of the week? And why?
- What have been my top challenges and why?
- How well have I been focusing this week?
- What is your top focus for next week and why?
- How motivated were you on a scale of 1-10 last week and why?
Keep your answers short and sweet. A few minutes of thinking about things can give you great clarity.
Best,
Manal
